Colours Nightclub @ The Hilton Hotel & Casino - Douglas
ELS have recently completed an extensive overhaul of the Lighting & Sound system in Colours Nightclub @ The Hilton Hotel & Casino on Douglas Promenade. The management and DJ's had complained for some time about the lack of sound on the dancefloor and also the poor quality and they needed a solution that could be achieved on a tight budget. The lighting was also in a very sorry state and required a complete refurbishment again on a limited budget.
We put a 502 in each corner of the dancefloor and decided on some JBL Control 25's to provide the peripheral sound where the BOSE had been fitted.
As far as the lighting was concerned it had been decided to concentrate the majority of the budget allocated to providng brand new fittings that would replace the mobile DJ type effects that the previous installer had fitted and bring the quality of the equipment back up to a standard that would be acceptable in the most upmarket of nightclub environments.
It was an obvious choice then to specify the MARTIN Mania series of fittings to provide not only a visually stunning lightshow but also provide the club with a fixture that was fit for purpose and would stand up to the riggors of a nightclub environment.
4 x Mania SCX-700 scanners c/w 150w discharge lamp and rotating gobos and 4 x Mania EFX-600's were installed onto the existing Lightstructures Bi-lite rig. 2 x Geni 250w colour changers were salvaged for use on the central mirror ball and these are switched seperately from the main rig so they can be put on for kareoke nights or events where the main lighting rig isn't required.
Haze is provided courtesy of an ANTARI Z-300 hazer and lighting control courtesy of a Martin 2510 DMX playback controller pre-loaded with Mania shows.
All in all the whole job is a small compact installation that packs a punch and meets all of the criteria layed down in the job spec. It has proved to be a massive hit over the weeks it has been running and has certainly injected the club with an atmosphere that was long overdue.
ELS would like to wish Claire, John and all the team at Colours all the best for the future.
